Capt Tim Richardson is the consumate professional boat captain. Primarily based in Florida since 1992, and traveling worldwide,he has fished more than 16 seasons on the Great Barrier Reef since 1989.

Captain Tim Richardson has extensive knowledge of the industry, having more than 15 years experience working in Florida. Both as a captain and mate, as well as manager at Scopinich Fighting Chairs and Scopinich Boatworks. He has successfully completed large scale refits on boats from 20 to 65 feet, as well as building a 69' Merritt, 4 x 35' Scopinich Boats, refit of several 50' plus sportfish boats, as well as the full refit and continual upgrade of TRADITION itself.

LEES SWIVEL ROD HOLDERS

Without a doubt, our swivel base rod holder is the “Ultimate Rod Holder” for the serious sportsman. Primarily designed to be used with bent butt tackle, the rod holders unique swivel base allows the rod butt to rotate in the rod holder when side pressure is applied to the tip of the rod. This is an indispensable tool, especially important in Giant Blue Fin Tuna fishing, where reel drags in the neighborhood of 60 pounds are frequently used and can result in tremendous forces being applied to the rod holder pin. Not only does this make sheared rod holder pins a thing of the past but, more importantly, it allows the tip of the rod to follow the fish. This reduces the possibility of line fraying and enhanced drag as the line streams sideways out of the roller tip instead of over the roller. The rod is also more easily removed from the holder since it is not locked on a rigid pin. The swivel base holder functions as a standard rod holder when used with straight butt rods. Straight butt rods can be manually rotated so that the line remains on the tip’s roller. The amount of torque required to rotate the swivel is set by adjusting the pressure on two nylon drag washers with a ½ inch stainless steel lock nut at the bottom of the rod holder. We manufacture eight models: the 30 degree angled rod holder, (model RH575); the 0 degree vertical rod holder, (model RH577V); the 15 degree rod holder, (model RH579H) and, the side mount swivel, (model RH570). Extra long versions of these rod holders are also available. They are the RH575XL, RH577XL, RH579XL and the RH570XL. These holders are 4” longer than the standard length allowing the bent butt to sit deeper in the holder thus reducing the leverage and stress on the mounting surface.
